no tap dancing this week
And thus, the new school year begins...and what better way than with a blast of classic swedish death metal? At the Gates is indisputably one of the most definitive bands of the melodic death metal genre, being one of the orginators of the "Gothenburg" sound, named for the swedish city they recorded in. Even though by the time the album this song is on was released, Slaughter of the Soul, the hard-core fans of the death metal movement had derided the band for "selling out", there is still alot to like about this album. There is also no doubt about the level of influence At the Gates has had on subsequent bands. Their sound has been incorporated into newer bands such as As I Lay Dying and The Black Dahlia Murder.
And...I do have some pictures from Africa, only 2 for now. They really don't have much to do with the mission trip, but it's my blog. I went to a school the people I stayed at's daughter goes to, and that's where the disappointing news about tap dancing was recieved. The other is of me jumping from a bridge.
So there you are, some music and some pictures. And just because you stayed this long through the post...you get a bonus mp3! This is a song that I first heard in a movie called Tarnation, and it's pretty cool.
